Hello all!!

Name is Anthony, I’m a customer of EE and I’ve received a text on my recent contract stating I can upgrade due 3G shutting off and my phone not fully being capable of runny 3G from what I can see.

I having really bad problems using my data and today until now I have not been able to use it on my mobile, this is why the text has reached me.

it says due to 3G being shut down, EE can see my phone won’t be able to use the services correctly so I thought it would be as simple as ringing up or going on store which is states I should do, which I have….

whilst I were speaking on the phone, I got told it was not meant to be sent to me of sorts but if I’m honest, the text was sent to my number and also states information about my phone may having problems with the change and to call to upgrade? What do you think is a good way to deal with this as I’m abit stuck as I won’t be able to use my data properly

@aTnGGen94 : You've not got much of a choice. You either:

  1. Keep existing phone & bear with extremely slow data over 2G. It should not affect your calls & texts much.
  2. Buy or upgrade to a 4G or preferably 5G phone & have competent data.

3G is now "shutting off" as "was switched off" in January 2024.

Any non-4G phone now uses 2G permanently.

I received a text off ees 150 number stating I could upgrade because of
this, they also said I can’t

Hi @aTnGGen94

Does the text have a link to be able to upgrade online?

When you spoke to someone over the phone, did they give a reason why you'd not be able to upgrade?
