Strange PS5 Pro download issue - EE 900 Core

Hello a strange one indeed,
I'm on EE's 900 core full fibre, using the Smart Hub 7 Plus SH35A with the latest firmware (confirmed by a quick Google search).

The speeds and pings are fine (confirmed on other devices and on my PS5 Pro via the connection test and in-game ping meters) yet downloading is impossible due to the fact it's stating it'll take hours to finish downloading. Earlier this week my PS5 Pro was working fine, my Series X and Switch 2 currently work even with this weird issue happening right now.

I use ethernet on all of my consoles and I even swapped the ethernet cable between my Series X and PS5 to rule out a router and/or ethernet cable problem yet the problem remains. Switching to wireless resulted in the exact same problem on my PS5 Pro - there was no difference. I even did a factory reset of my PS5 Pro which allowed me to download one game at normal speed before it slowed to an absolute crawl afterwards when the next queued item (only a 15gb DLC) resulted in the same lengthy time period.

I can only assume and make an uneducated guess that it's an issue between EE and PlayStation specifically - as my Series X and Switch 2 are downloading games perfectly fine without any problems at all.

Very curious, can anyone else replicate this with their own PS5 (Pro or regular)?

Thanks in advance.

@ReadyUpEm - so I'm clear, you're saying that all wired devices are suffering problems and not just the PS5's? If you literally can't stream Youtube from a wired Smart TV without it buffering then something very wobbly is happening!

Doesn't help your situation any, but I can download at the full ~1.6Gbps my line is capable of using the LAN port of my 7 Plus. That's to a wired Windows PC though (I don't have a PS5). A wired Series S will also do well north of 500mbps (when Microsoft's servers are having a good day). I've > 10 wired devices in total and they're all going to the 2.5Gbps LAN port on the 7 Plus via unmanaged switches - can't say I've noticed issues with any of them 🤔

Anything unusual about your network setup? e.g. switches, extenders etc? Or is everything plugged staight into the 7 Plus?

There's no issues at all when using my old hub, the TV starts having issues
after the first download has finished on any console, the problem remains
until I unplug the Ethernet and plug it back in. A few seconds after
plugging it back in I get full speed again but only for one download.
Nothing suggested to me has worked. There's nothing in the setup which
could be causing the issue, no extra switches or any of my own equipment.
Again, in my old hub I consistently get full speed and can download all day
without any problems, allocation mode settings are making no difference

How are wired devices split across the Ethernet ports on the SH7 Plus? All on the 1Gbps ports or is something connected to the 2.5Gbps port? Scraping the barrel trying to think of patterns to try and identify because it's definitely an odd one!

My console on the 2.5 port an everything else on the other ports, nothing
changes though when I switch devices to different ports, they behave
exactly the same way.

@ReadyUpEm Are you using the complete 4 ports in total o the 7 Plus, game console have you tried leaving it on one off the 1Gb/s ports on the 7+ hub?

Yes all ports are used and I've tried each device on different ports, on
its own and with other devices plugged in.
The thing that frustrates me most is that EE have sent out engineers who
have done nothing with the router, just checked my connection speed which
I've told them a hundred times is working correctly. Whatever it is needs
somebody with the right knowledge to go into my router settings and set it
up. It's 100% a router setting otherwise my old hub wouldn't be working
perfectly like it is

@ReadyUpEm The 7+ has one 2.5Gb/s port, if you have no 2.5Gb/s devices it should in theory fold back on Auto negotiate to a 1Gb/s port, that is what is worth the check, personally ditch one off the devices, keep away from the 2.5Gb/s one and see  how that goes with just 3 on, what is connected on the other ports and also low speed half duplex devices may just hinder the Ethernet ports altogether....

Forget the EE Engineers they are NOT network specialist's, fact your BT one is working then the issue is Ethernet on the EE Hub, If it's anything like the 6+ version you may just have to throw a switch on it, and as @bobpullen say's he is seeing no such issues on his 7+ version, and he knows what he is doing with it all.

@ReadyUpEm Going to say this, son uses a PS5 not sure which one but it is the latest he is a gaming Freak as far as i am concerned, and connected on the VM 2Gb/s symmetrical connection, i had to go do a check for him say about a year ago, his speed was in the toilet, the fix HE did was set the PS5 to use google DNS 8.8.8.8, all off his devices are hard wired back to the VM hub, i know because i installed all the wiring for him, the gaming PC is connected on a 10Gb/s connection as it has a 5Gb/s Nic interface on it, everything else that includes his PS5 etc and others are on the 1Gb/s connections of the VM Hub....

""Two ps5s and themain tv are wired"" think your TV may only have a 100Mb/s Ethernet on it you would be best to check.

I've tried changing those settings on my PS5 to no avail. Ice bow reset it
back to the setting it had before. My console settings aren't what needs to
change here though since it works perfectly fine and gets over 900 megabits
all the time when using my old BT hub. The workaround is simply an engineer
who I iws their stuff coming to set my router up correctly, EE are
reluctant to send one after already sending two who had no interest in the
router and only performed speed tests

@ReadyUpEm BT hub it is then that is what is working for you!
