esim PIN Code and Dual Sim 5G

Hi there

fresh user of an iPhone 12 mini .

got my sim sorted (changed pin code) , switched over to esim.

all is good.

now, i see under settings / mobile data/ SIM PIN. it's switched to OFF (so i believe it's not set yet)

i wanna set one up. i only have 2 tries left.

i understood that it can be 0000 or 1111 (how can i tell for sure without trying them first?)

if i'm locking my eSim by mistake (or not) , is there an easy way to get my PUK codes?

i'm thinking that this eSim it's only assigned to my phone. what's the point of a PIN Code here? only to not allowing anyone with access to the phone to turn it ON?

is a PIN required to turn off the eSim too?

when using 2 sim cards, it switches from 5G to 4G only.

is this a hardware limitation or is it a software/sim one?

if not hardware, is there a timeline for when we will be able to use dual sim in 5G mode?

thanks a lot for your time

@JohnRo79   5G on both sims it’s coming when iOS 14.5 is released at present it will drop to 4G.  iOS 1.4.5 will be released soon.    EE physical Sim pin is 1111.    You can get your PUK code from within your online account.

@JohnRo79  it should be 1111 as that is the default code of a physical Sim card and you copied the information from a physical Sim to the eSim.

i already changed the physical one from 111 to smtg else, way before i moved to esim

so now the code for my esim is the new one i've set up or the original 1111 one?

Hi @JohnRo79

Welcome to the community.

I hope you're well and having a nice Monday, are you up to much.

@Chris_B is spot on. This should be set at 1111, when you moved to eSIM is should have reverted back to this.

Thanks.

Chris.

Just in case one wonders, you can't use 2 esim plans at the same time in an s21 5g phone

  • It can only be 1 at a time
