New iPhone SE and SIM

I have just bought a new iPhone SE with a new SIM from EE. Does the SIM need to be activated? I have out it into the iPhone but it doesn't look to be recognized-  on the top left corner it says "No SIM".ThanksCP

Shared allowance

Hi I have an unlimited deal with shared allowances can I use a smart watch or esim phone as I dont like taking my phone into work as it can get damaged due to my job but I still need to call in/out to log into the system at work Thank you

Activating new SIM taking longer than 24 hours

Received my new ee phone and SIM card on 20th October 2020. Activated the new SIM on 21st October 2020. It's now 23rd October 2020 and I am still unable to send or receive calls or SMS texts.
