[Meta] The EE website and community forum in general is always quite slow

Anyone else experience this? the EE website is always generally slow. doesn't matter on the time of day, is this a load issue?

I can't help but compare it to my banks community forum which is blazingly fast at pretty much all times of day (Monzo)

Loading account information on MyEE be it the app or the website always loads, but it seems to always take about 30-45 seconds.

It's not that I am always in a rush or anything. it is just something I noticed

@Kirigaya_Kazuto : There's something decidedly wrong since those last 2 long weekends takedowns of the Community..

50% of my attempts to browse to a Community URL takes me to its Home & the next identical attempt gets me to where I was going.

Something is certainly broke.

Hi @Kirigaya_Kazuto

Are there particular areas of the website that you are finding slower than others? (other than the issue you've mentioned about My EE)

I will feed back the slow load time to the My EE Web/app issue to the team that looks after them, thanks for letting us know.

@XRaySpeX the changes made over the weekend outage shouldn't affect anything to do with navigating the community, it wasn't directly related to that, so there may be something else happening in the back.

When this happens, how are you accessing the URLs? Are you navigating the boards, through community notifications, through notification emails, saved links etc? Drop me a PM with more info and we can get to the bottom of it.

Thanks

Sorcha

Seemed it may have been a DNS issue on my part. I switched DNS solution from Cloud flare back to Google and it seems acceptable now.

@Kirigaya_Kazuto glad to hear you're getting better load times now 🙂

@Sorcha : 2 examples:

  1. Browser Back/Forward buttons, e.g. Back to https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/kudos/leaderboardpage/timerange/one_month/tab/authors converts itself in flight to https://community.ee.co.uk/ .
  2. Link in a Notification email e.g. Unlimited Data Phone SIM in Router instead of Data SIM  arrives at https://community.ee.co.uk/#M56043 = Home. Then the next times it goes to the right page. As far as I can tell it only happens the 1st time I click on a particular email. Subsequently they all seem to work.

Diff browsers, neither logged into Community.  So just viewing it.

I think it not so much anything to do with navigating per se but the old occurrence of Login forgetting where it was & getting lost.
