Disgusting Price Increase!

I've just had the email that you are now cashing in on the cost of living crisis by smashing a massive 14.4 % increase on my bill.

Its absolutely disgusting, at a time when people are struggling to eat and heat their homes you decide to hit us with that ridiculous increase, not just a few % you up it by 14.4%

Its sick and I'll never be using EE again when this contract ends, I'll also be going out of my way to warn other people from using you, there's absolutely no justification in a hike like that, its pure greed and you should be ashamed.

You're a disgrace!

Chris, with 20 Odd billion in profits I'd expect nothing less, but in a cost of living crisis you couldnt just accept maybe 17 billion, or 18 billion profit, just this once and defer this price hike?

It cant be justified, its daylight robbery and people are sick of the greedy profiteering.

Likewise Steviekit. I am totally with you. I logged a complaint this morning. In the chat, the advisor told me that the entire £57 for one of our plans is just for service. Both of the advisors I spoke to said that the phone price is not reflected in that price. They said that the cost of my phone is not directly affected by the price increase. They said "The device cost and the service cost are calculated together the cost that has increased is not for the device, it is for the services itself."

Oh, and guess what... if you read through the Ts & Cs there is zero mention of the handset monthly cost, or any indication of whether ownership transfers at the end of the contract. In fact, the suggestion is that the cost is paid up front and the phone is mine from the beginning... but I think this is deceitful because the plan price changes depending on the cost of the phoe, and how much you pay up front. They may well be tying us up with words but it's immoral and I'd like an answer as to why they think it isn't.

"Upfront" does not mean it is fair, just or moral. But yes, I think we'll all give you the "upfront" bit. And with regard to Service, I'll accept the increase. The answer I am looking for is why the portion of my bill that is related to my particular choice of handset is also increasing - the phone has been bought. The loan was agreed. It does not need to increase.

And by the way, if investment is the reason, I'll expect your profits to remain level.

Not exactly generous. I'm in the emergency services (not NHS), it's 20% for the FIRST YEAR only. After that it goes back to full amount if I recall, certainly has done on my contract and I've got 5 lines and paying over £350 a month...

@Cresty : Ownership of a contract device transfers to you after 6 months. This is covered in the Pay Monthly Network T&C's.

EE's contracts have no concept of paying off the handset. You agreed to pay the same price (subject to contractual annual increases) for the full duration of the contract. There will however be a 10% discount 3 months after the end of min. term. You may always choose to upgrade your contract to a cheaper SIM-Only contract from the last 45 days of your contract term. Any price increases inflicted will be applied to this whole price.

Hello EE,

Price Plan Increase by £4.17 from 31st March

I have been a customer with you for over 10 years and I just received a TEXT MESSAGE saying you are going to increase my price plan by £4.17 a month on 31st March.

This is unacceptable and not in line with my contract.

Why are you taking advantage of the cost of living crisis and increasing our payments?

Hi @Darren_Woodward

Welcome to the community.

Many providers will change their prices at any time during customers’ contracts with them. We have been upfront about our price changes when customers agreed to their contract, and we are using CPI as a measure for these increases.

Our customers rely on us for connectivity more than ever, it’s crucial we continue to invest in our networks, services and the latest technology.

Chris

Hi @Mld2072

It's the same every year, not exactly a hidden cost when it's clearly stated on the sales pages., The legal section, terms and conditions etc.

Thanks
