I phone battery drain

Hi, has any one experienced iPhone battery drain since joining EE ?

I was transferred over from Plusnet just over a month ago and have noticed the battery on my iPhone 6s does not last half as long as it use to, checked the battery use and condition and all looks normal with a battery condition of 90%. My wife has the same phone and has experienced the same issue. The battery drain appears to be worse over night when not in use , and no app’s running in the background.

Any ideas much appreciated

Leanne,

I have tried a couple of times this afternoon to report the lack of signal in the NP4 5 LL area , usually 1 bar showing on my device, however every time I get to the end of the form and submit it I get a response saying

“ Some thing went wrong please try again later “

so  I am not wasting any more of my time, perhaps you can try and report it because according to your service checker I should have excellent service inside and outside, but that’s not the case and I am sure that’s part of the problem with my battery draining.

Whats annoying is I never had any issues like this when I was with Plusnet and I don’t understand why now have them since coming over to EE.

You won’t get a solution to this problem in this forum, or by calling 150.

Do what I did. Replace your sim with a different provider (try a few). Mine works fine with giffgaff (O2). It’s now back to how it was before moving from PlusNet.

Then use the EE online complaint web form to document your case and request some expert help to solve this weird problem.

Good luck. 🤞

Both my wife and I also switched from Plusnet to ee sin only plans on Boxing Day and immediately noticed that battery usage on both our iPhone 11 was plummeting from fully charged to less than 6% overnight. Calling ee tech help on 150 revealed no issues with signal and took me through their standard queries on various settings. Initially, they claimed that nothing similar had been reported and so I pointed them to this thread. They then started to claim it was an old phone with battery issues ( both ours are still at 90% of original capacity) and then said because the phones were ‘3rd party’ ie not from ee, they couldn’t do anything. In other words, ee is refusing to accept there is an issue and not prepared to help those transferring from Plusnet. I suspect the issue might be related to switching from a 4G to 5G service but, as Danng8 suggested above, I also suspect the solution lies in giffgaff!  Overall, I have experienced a very poor service from ee.

Hi @DDB59

Welcome to the community.

Have you been getting a 5G service since switching over to EE? Changing from 4G to 5G would have an effect on the battery life.

As a test, you could try turning it off and going 4G only: Tap Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data Options > Change 'Voice & Data' to 4G.

Welcome to the , it's not my fault EE community page. If you download an app called Coconut Battery , you can check your bettery condition. i did and my battery was still at 80 some thing % so i gave up in the end trying to get to the bottom of why my phone sudenly looses it charge after swapping over to EE. This issue will however,  because of the additional charging of your battery reduce the life of it.

It would appear that every thing is wrong with the phone and nothing is wrong with EE ( not )

I did report a very low signal strength in my area which EE responded to a couple of weeks later saying there was an issue in my area, following day they said it was fixed, the signal seemed better for a couple of days but now back to the same low signal.

Good luck with your attempts to solve this, and if you do please let me know because i got nowhere with it and gave up.

Just checked and iPhone 11 is not 5G compatible and I’m only receiving a 4G signal (only option available to me). I’m not sure if that means my searching for a 5G signal theory is still relevant or not. Perhaps this issue is only applicable to those whose phones are not 5G ready? Interestingly, the ee coverage checker suggests an excellent 4G coverage in my area (LN8) but I’m only getting one or two bars yet ee claim there are no issues locally.
I have also confirmed the battery condition at 90% of original capacity so I doubt that would cause a sudden deterioration of charge retention. Given that both my wife’s phone and mine suffered the exact same increase in battery usage after inserting the ee sim, and others have faced the same issue even if ee refuse to recognise that, it is too much of a coincidence for it not to be related to the switch from a Plusnet to ee sim.
So, come on ee, how about you apply some of your vast resources to investigating this and see if your customer care really lives up to your claims?
