iPhone 15 battery and overheating

I just got the iPhone 15 less than a month ago. From day 1 I noticed it doesn’t hold battery & takes ages to charge despite using a fast charger & head. Not only that but it overheats all the time. Battery health is normal… 100% max capacity. My screen time averages 4hrs a day, I don’t keep apps open and haven’t used much storage space. I don’t go on the phone while it’s charging and I don’t sleep with it on charge as I charge it for 20-30 min intervals throughout the day so why is the battery so bad? How can I stop it overheating after only being on my phone for 45 mins?

Hi @Kelsee05

Yes sounds odd but you topping the battery up doesn't help it get used to your usage. Are you using the correct charger and not one which is more powerful as I think it should be 20w and will trickle charge at 80-90%. Is the battery swelling?

Give EE a call tomorrow on 150 if you're concerned or pop into an apple store and ask them to look at it.

Thanks

My charger wattage is 45 but apparently that’s fine since the iPhone 15 has a circuit which regulates the charge and shouldn’t cause any problems. I don’t believe the battery is sweeping either, I’m not sure how I’d check that 😕

Welcome to the Community, @Kelsee05 😊

Usually a sign of battery swelling would be the back appearing to lift or become detached.

If this were the case we would recommend to stop using and charging the phone immediately.

Since you started these noticing these issues, have you checked to make sure your phone is fully up to date?

Also whilst phones heating up during usage is to be expected, especially considering recent warm weather, if this is getting to the point of being uncomfortable to hold this would again be something to look out for.

Peter

Thank you, no the battery doesn’t seem to be swelling based on these conditions.  The phone is fully up to date and yes it’s burning my hands to hold when it overheats so I’m having to leave it on my cool counters. Granted the weather is hot but I have air con maintaining cool temperatures inside. I started using the charger provided in the iPhone box this morning but the problems still occur 😞
