Photo/Video Message Text - Scam?

I received a text notification from someone in my contacts saying that a photo/video message was sent to me, but couldn't be delivered. It said that a message will follow on how to view it and it gave a password. As it was from someone in my contacts, I stupidly clicked on the link and entered my mobile number and the password. It came up with just a brief text message say 'Are you awake?'.

The person in my contacts said they hadn't sent me anything when I asked, so now I'm really worried about malware. Has anyone had this/is it a scam, or could the message have been sent in error?

Hi @abinormal,

That's a genuine message from EE. If you update your settings at setup-ee.wdsglobal.com/mms you'll be able to receive MMS messages direct to your device. (As long as your device support MMS)

I have also had same text from my boss she did send me pic on Thursday which i rec’d but nothing since then so I am highly suspicious especially since I’ve been receiving “voicemail” messages from random phone numbers for 2 weeks at least 2-3 per day all of which I’ve sent to 7726

A friend received this link from me yesterday but I haven't sent her anything, why has this happened?!?! I thought its got to be a scam

Had you sent your friend any text messages before they received the MMS link?

I've had the same thing, twice now and supposedly from two different contacts, one yesterday and one today. Both contacts have said they didn't send me an MMS and neither had sent an SMS either, so this has to be a scam/malicious.
