Unable to receive calls abroad but can send and receive texts

 can't believe there's not an easier way of speaking to someone at EE... 150 just takes you to an automated service. all I want to know is why my mother is abroad, she's able to send and receive texts but cannot receive or make calls. while she's away she needs to make an important call so needs this sorted asap

If your mother can send & receive texts, she has a connection to a foreign network and is thus roaming.

Advise your mother to perform a manual network search and try each local network in turn. Check if the problem exists on other networks.
