Hi @Carlf2

Welcome to the community.

I hope you're having a great time in Barbados.

Did you activate Roaming before leaving the UK?

Call and text rates for Barbados can also be found by visiting our Roaming Tool

@Carlf2 : Are you on contract or PAYG? Had you used that SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you left to go abroad?

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Otherwise if you are on contract you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

When was your SIM moved to PAYG? It takes 30 days notice to cancel a contract & before it is moved to PAYG. Had that change taken place while abroad you can't now use it at all while abroad. To be used abroad EE PAYG SIMs need 1st activating on EE's home UK network. If it wasn't you can't now use it until you return to UK.

quite a few months ago, approx 4 or 5, should have spoken to EE but it was such short notice

& that was while you were in UK for at least 30 days more?

In which case you are back to having not activated the roaming ability while in UK. You can't activate it while abroad except by calling EE.

If you have travelled abroad with roaming not being enabled, your phone will not have access to foreign networks. Making or receiving calls, sending or receiving text messages, and using mobile data - requires a mobile network connection which your phone doesn't have.

This is why you need to make contact via another means.
