Pay as you go pack has not started

I’ve just received a new sim which I have inserted into my device and received a text saying my allowance would start once I call or text with it. Tried doing both and still nothing as of yet. Do I just have to wait for it to start ?

Pay as you go sim won’t activate

I bought a sim and followed the instructions to add £10 and then send a call or text to activate. The only problem is my calls and texts aren’t going through. I’m currently in Italy right now so I’m not sure if that is affecting it.
