TRAVEL DATA PASS - BEWARE

Beware!!!!!

If you have applied for a Travel Data Pass, IT IS NOT FREE!!!

Until I applied for a travel data pass last year, when I travelled abroad I would receive a text asking me if I wanted to buy travel data at X per day.

I've just returned from the Caribbean and been hit with £167 of travel data charges. This Travel Data Pass (which is not free) IS A CON!

At no point did I receive a message asking me if I wanted my Travel Data Pass activated. It was just left running in the background!

If you have signed up for this I suggest you cancel NOW! Otherwise you could end up with a massive bill at the end of your trip.

@XRaySpeX the terminology I am using are 'fraud', 'theft' and 'unethical business practice' and at no point in this thread have you helped EE customers, you appear to lean toward EE. FACT!
@Leanne_T @Katie_B please check this thread and I'm sure that you will be able to conclude that @mjrimell and myself have been the victims of fraud, therefore escalate this to whoever needs to know.

Hi @Matt1802.

I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team about this so they can check your account.

They will be able to help you further.

I m afraid I don't really get it. I ve just looked at the pass for USA and it clearly says that there's a set daily rate so I decided to use 'roam further'. It was also clear that the 'free' aspect was that unlike the roam further there was no recurring monthly cost. I was able to easily see how much the daily rate was and what the allowances were? I m not in anyway trying to knock either of you and I have no links in any way at all to EE, but in this instance I think you've added something on to your account without looking at it properly

Thanks for the “heads up” on this. A “free” add-on which is not free to use. Very misleading. Without checking your roaming allowance you just assume it would be included.

Hi @Juanjo04

Thanks for coming here.

You can find all available add-ons and costs on our Roaming Help page.

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.

Thanks Leanne…I see, theoretically, I should be able to use my data in the EU as my contract was pre 2021…however, upon closer inspection it appears I’m “out of contract” as of Aug20.

Does that mean I’m now on a 30 day rolling contract which is obvz deemed post Jul21 and therefore liable to roaming charges?

Cheers
J.

Hi there @Juanjo04

If you have not upgraded and changed your plan and contract since before 7 July 2021, you can use your allowance in the EU. This includes up to 50GB of data.

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.

👍🏻Nice one Leanne, thanks for clarification.

Bon weekend,

No problem at all @Juanjo04

Hope you have a lovely time.

Before you travel please check your My EE account to make sure roaming and call abroad is active 🙂

Leanne.

Trouble is that link doesn’t include any details of the travel data pass. Think you should have known that
