Google Pixel 8 WiFi issues?

We're aware of reports from Google Pixel 8 users who are having difficulties connecting their phones to the new Smart Hub 7 Plus.

When trying to connect your Pixel 8 to the hub's WiFi, you may find that it fails to connect at all, or connects very briefly before disconnecting.

We've established that this is a recent problem following the big December Pixel update - Android 16’s new updates

Our engineers have raised the issue with Google and we're hopeful the problem will be resolved in a future Android update.

In the meantime, you can work around the problem by having your Pixel 8 device use the Compatible Wi-Fi network. Steps for activating and using this feature can be found here - Set up and use Compatible WiFi | Broadband Help | EE

Hi, is there any update on this?

Google are denying there is an issue and instructed me to attend a repair shop at EE who said all they can do is charge £280 to swap the main board out as they're not aware of any WiFi issues.

Hi any news?

My son's pixel 8 won't work at all. Had to set him up on the guest wifi which isn't helpful for access other devices

My pixel 9 pro xl has stopped working correctly since an Android update installed this weekend. It is now very intermittent with my phone sometimes saying "Saved/can't connect try again later".

Need to check my other son's pixel 10......

Have you tried setting up the Compatible WiFi network as recommended in the OP?

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

No because the EE app doesn't give even me that option. Under wifi I only get 1 slider for Guest.

I've now made the change to enable compatible network via the local Web interface.

@Majhaar : Compatible WiFi is to be found on the router itself under Advanced > Wireless Settings, not the app.

Yes I found it this morning - but the above linked instructions state you CAN do it in the app.

My just switch back to my dlink router

I think I may have found the fix!

I logged into the router and changed the security type to 'WPA3 - Personal - Transition' and no longer have any issues connecting or staying connected!

I hope this works for everyone else 🤞
