Landline losing pairing with router - impact of compatibility network????

I am thoroughly fed up with only discovering that my landline is not working after people tell me they have repeatedly called and it is just ringing! And this time, I cannot re-pair the two. Despite repeated attempts, the result is a steady red light on the phone block.  Is there any chance that this is due in some way to the fact that I had to set up a Compatibility Network https://ee.co.uk/help/broadband/manage-use/how-to-set-up-compatible-wifi  because my Google Pixel 9a could not pick up the standard Smart Hub network (although I think that I have managed to re-pair them previously)???? If so, how do I get my landline phone to work???

@Thurza see if anything here helps. The compatible mode should have nothing to do with the DV Landline phone operation as that is wifi Network which DV does not use at all. You could try the EE Hub off for five minutes then back on again to see if the adapter goes Aqua, if not reset the DVA after the EE Hub is back up.

That's what I have been doing several times, JimM11, but the end result is a soloid red light on the phone adaptor .......

@Thurza The help link may show you what to do, have you tried moving the DVA closer to the hub to test, also the DVA may just be faulty or the EE Hub also may not be supplying the Dect Frequency out for the DVA operation.

Test the Hub operation by plugging the phone into the back of the EE Hub.

What your Home Phone Adapter light means
1. On initial plug in – flashes orange,
0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off
2. During registration – flashes quickly,
alternating between orange and aqua –
0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off
3. Once registered – stays solid aqua
4. During a call – flashes in aqua 1 second on,
1 second off
5. Once registered, if there’s a connection
problem with your broadband – flashes red
0.5 seconds on and 0.5 seconds off
6. If you do a factory reset – stays solid white
for 2 seconds
7. If the adapter can’t find the Smart Hub –
stays solid red.
Tip
Once registered to your Smart Hub or Home
Phone Connect, your Home Phone Adapter
will remember its link, even if you unplug it and
move it elsewhere around your home.
You don’t need to use a main power socket,
you can also plug the Home Phone Adapter
into an extension cable.

@Thurza You text further back on this thread to what you did in May this year is what fixed the 9a connection, just look back to then.

I'll try again tomorrow - too late now. I assume "DVA" = the phone adaptor?

I'm not very keen to reboot the smart hub router because so many other things have to be set up again but so be it if necessary.

The strange thing is that the light on the phone adaptor block was steady aqua but the phone was not ringing in my house (although it sounded to my callers as if it was - I HATE this aspect of fibre!). That's why I thought it needed re-pairing and set about that but now I can only get red on the adaptor (after all the various flashing lights). Grrr

Thanks for trying to help. More anon!

@Thurza Yes DVA is the Digital Voice Adapter, and the phone not ringing has it ever rang using the Adapter?

Plug you phone into the hub to test the Hub/Phone out if not working send the text PHONE to 66033 and have EE test it all.

Well, the phone adaptor was of course still solid red this morning BUT I moved it to the adjacent room where the router is in my small house and, without my doing anything other than plugging it in, I got a solid aqua AND the phone rang when I called it.  So, I moved it back into the kitchen, plugged it in, still got aqua and it is working!

This is so frustrating though. I was forced to go fibre and get the phone adaptor at the end of January. Since then there have been half a dozen occasions when the phone has failed to ring in my house (even though it sounds as if it is to my callers). There has been no way of knowing it is not working at my end. It has been showing as aqua. Some but not all of these occasions have coincided with a brief power failure (I have one applicance which loses its settings so I know when this has happened) but not all of them.

Anyway, for the time being at least, things are functioning again. thank you for your help.

@Thurza Honestly does not matter how small/large your home is, the DVA and the EE Hub on the DV Digital Voice side off the business all works in the Dect Frequency range, if the DVA does not ring on occasions and you have NOTHING plugged into the EE Hub phone wise you are just never going to know what, very much Chicken/Egg scenario, not knowing what you have would just either try to use the EE Hub, or buy a Cheap Handset and plug it into the Hub....

Fibre is not the steady medium as yet especially on the DVA adapter's and there operation.....

As you have an active line and anyone calling will get the ringing to them, eventually it will go to voicemail if your caller hangs on long enough or just get them to do it once and see if it does do so, leave a quick message and you can check it all out the next time it happens, do not be surprised at that though.
