Just upgraded to the pixel 6 pro and it came with a new SIM but I'm getting a notification that it's not provisioned for voice. Do I just need to wait for the network to catch up or is this a problem that won't resolve itself?

The SIM card will need activated, to do this please give us a call on 0800 079 8586 from any phone.

Does your old SIM fit into your new phone?
If yes, you can continue to use this.

I disposed of the old SIM before realising the new one didn't work.

After over half an hour in the queue I finally got through and my SIM was activated within a few minutes.
