New router not powering on

Hi, I today received a new router. Unplugged my old black one and plugged in the new white on but it isn't powering on and has no lights. Am I missing something here? Old one back on and working again.

Faulty hardware?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Try using old power supply with new router. If works -> Faulty power supply.
  2. Try using new power supply with old router. If works -> Faulty router.

Why have you been sent a new router? Is it cuz you have upgraded your BB package? If so, from what to what? In some situations you may find the old router more suitable.

Hi @Emuzz9 ,

Does the new router have a power switch on it or a reset button?

Have you followed the instructions for powering on the device and are you certain that electricity is being supplied? (For example that the adapter gets a little warmer as a minimum as a cold adapter usually means it's not functioning.)

It was the adapter. Sorted now.

Thank you
