Disgusting Price Increase!

I've just had the email that you are now cashing in on the cost of living crisis by smashing a massive 14.4 % increase on my bill.

Its absolutely disgusting, at a time when people are struggling to eat and heat their homes you decide to hit us with that ridiculous increase, not just a few % you up it by 14.4%

Its sick and I'll never be using EE again when this contract ends, I'll also be going out of my way to warn other people from using you, there's absolutely no justification in a hike like that, its pure greed and you should be ashamed.

You're a disgrace!

i will be leaving EE as soon as my contract has ended . The increase is shocking.
Even the upgrade deals with EE are very expensive, so I would’ve probably gone elsewhere anyway, but this has made my mind up.

EE ain't lying! They don't claim the increase is just CPI but CPI + 3.9%.

I admire you Chris... and all your Community Support Mates... this is a tough gig.

With regard to "Our customers rely on us for connectivity more than ever"... Following this thread, I'm expecting some spare capacity next year and maybe the investment won't be so crucial 🤔🤣.

Last year we lost service altogether at home. I had to contact EE about it. I was told just to use wifi calling... as if that was totally acceptable when paying over £150 per month for 4 phones (although the phones aren't included... just the service, although if I had chosen a more expensive phone the service would have been more expensive :-))

You're defending the undefendable, and you and your colleagues continue to do it. Fair Play.

This is an absurd response. I agree, why would I pay interest on a phone that’s going down in value? I’m all for paying inflation rates on services but my actual device should be separate. I will not be renewing my contract with EE either.
You should really check your business model and think about the repercussions this will have on you as a business. I’ve already spoken to at least 10 people and they’re all leaving you after their contracts are. I can only imagine how many contracts you guys will be losing.
There are plenty of other phone companies with better business models and 0% interest on actual devices.
I for one can not wait to leave EE. Your services isn’t great anyways.

@Cresty : Any extra capacity will obviously not be evenly distributed. Some, those in weaker areas, will get it & most of the rest of us won't see a dicky bird 😉 .

You can argue interminably, & boringly, all you want here but it won't change things as they stand to the legal position that you signed, not necessary to be in writing, & agreed, altho' many of you appear not to have read the T&C's you accepted upon signing up to your contracts.

Similarly you can bleat to all the websites & unofficial personal petitions you want.

There are really only 3 lawful manoeuvres you could take to change your legal position on this, other than simply cancelling your contract with EE along the resultant monetary hit if any:

  1. Unfair Terms Class Action: You could all take a class action to the Courts or to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to challenge these price increases as being Unfair Contract Terms. Should you succeed it should make null & void these terms of your existing contracts & being a class action, possibly for everyone.
  2. Petition Parliament: This would require at least 10,000 signatures before you can even get a response from government but even if successful it is not usually retrospective. So your present contracts will still stand & you would need to take new ones to benefit.
  3. OFCOM Regulation: Enough of you and customers of the many other providers likewise affected could persuade OFCOM to regulate against this practice (Ofcom to review inflation-linked telecoms price rises). However like petitioning Parliament it will never be retrospective but could well include rules allowing you to quit existing such contracts FoC.
