Disgusting Price Increase!

I've just had the email that you are now cashing in on the cost of living crisis by smashing a massive 14.4 % increase on my bill.

Its absolutely disgusting, at a time when people are struggling to eat and heat their homes you decide to hit us with that ridiculous increase, not just a few % you up it by 14.4%

Its sick and I'll never be using EE again when this contract ends, I'll also be going out of my way to warn other people from using you, there's absolutely no justification in a hike like that, its pure greed and you should be ashamed.

You're a disgrace!

Hi @kc28

Welcome to the community.

Did you receive a letter from us about a price increase?

My monthly fee is £21. Inflation is at 8.8% which is an increase of £1.85 which is bad enough. Why are you charging £3.02 which is £1.17 over and above inflation.

in 2015 EE profit was £792 million, it will be far far more in 2023

you are ripping us off

Hi @15Radford

@MarkJ9 : It's in the T&C's you signed up to - see Mobile CPI plus price changes. Being contractual you have no option to leave early FoC.

Everybody on contract has been / will be getting them in next few weeks.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

@MarkJ9  EE isn’t just the only network increasing prices inline with CPI and what ever percentage they out on top.

Absolutely the mechanism is in the contract but the indexes are at extreme levels and it is not costing EE or BT 14.4%. They have a choice as a retailer and they are choosing to maximise this opportunity with a double whammy on inflation and CPI. When inflation drops they won’t drop in line. As a customer I have a choice (once my contracts expire) and all mobiles and broadband will be taken away from bt and EE and I won’t return irrespective of what they do with offers etc .. they have lost my custom forever

@MarkJ9   And if you move to a different network you’ll still get a price increase.   Yes this one is high but so are the other networks this time around.   EE don’t set the CPI and your contract with EE other a different network will state CPI and what ever percentage that choose to have one it.      It’s not maximising at all.it’s in the contract CPI+3.9% they are only stick to the T&Cs that you agreed to in the contract.    Yes they could choose to drop the 3.9% but that would mean that every part of the T&Cs can be changed when ever customers are are happy about the agreement that you agreed to when taking out the contract between yourself and what ever network.

I’m not stupid I understand CPI and I understand inflation, what EE snd BT have done is using both and added them together which when inflation has been running so incredibly low for so long you can understand that CPI increases helps cover general up lifts in business costs. But at these levels it is taking the Michael to charge 14.4% uplift. Sky is charging 0% for in contract and 9% out of contract. That is far more reasonable. EE can of course follow the contract terms - well within their rights but it will come to bite them in the backside as you have already lost me now as a customer as soon as these contracts run down
