Disgusting Price Increase!

I've just had the email that you are now cashing in on the cost of living crisis by smashing a massive 14.4 % increase on my bill.

Its absolutely disgusting, at a time when people are struggling to eat and heat their homes you decide to hit us with that ridiculous increase, not just a few % you up it by 14.4%

Its sick and I'll never be using EE again when this contract ends, I'll also be going out of my way to warn other people from using you, there's absolutely no justification in a hike like that, its pure greed and you should be ashamed.

You're a disgrace!

Hi @janeybee100,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

If you're still within your contracts minimum term, it isn't possible to move to a plan with a lower data allowance.

You can check upgrade eligibility by texting UP to 150.

Hope this helps.

James

I just received an email saying my plan would increase by £11 per month.

I recognise that inflation is significant and that you have the right to raise your service prices; but, the cost of the phone,  which accounts for the majority of what I pay, should be fixed. In two years, an iPhone would be substantially cheaper. Why would I pay 14-15% more if another provider offered 0% interest?

Would it be possible to pay the remaining cost for the phone?

Did they, or didn't they make £2billion ?

Yes, they did.

The rest doesn't matter, and personally I don't give a fig.

Its time to shop around again. Find out what the competition is charging and then give EE a call. Getting through isn't too bad compared with other providers. EE now have this weird service where they text you a link then you call 150 again and they put you straight through. I'm on hold now having said I am unhappy about the price rise and shopping around for the best deal. I've quoted Now BB are offering 63Mb for £22/month.

Well I'm gutted. They wouldn't do anything. I'm in the middle of a 2 year contract and they are not prepared to budge. It would cost me £104 to terminate the contract. They did offer to move to their broadband partner BT in April who will charge a 'little bit' less.

There we have it. EE have me over a barrel and there is no option but to pay the higher amount.

Some say, if you can't afford it then don't buy it. However this is the problem with signing a contract that seems competitive to start with. In a year the bill has gone from £26 to over £30 per month with 'inflation' as the excuse. In the meantime, the EE holding companies are raking in profits.

For me BB is critical. Without BB I don't work. Without work I don't eat. The same as electricity.

It seems to me that now we are all signed up to the Big 6 BB providers or the Big 6 energy providers they can now charge what they like. We truly are now living in an age of cartels.

Hi @PB04,

Sorry, it isn't possible to pay for your phone separately.

James

Thanks for your response @James_B . I'll make sure that this is the last contract that I will be having with you.

Any user who wants to source their phone upfront and just pay EE for the network service, should consider purchasing the phone SIM-free, and having a SIM-only plan.

That will provide exactly the scenario you are seeking.

Thank you Christopher for your helpful response! Although I would beg to differ on being upfront; when I first took out a phone contract with EE I was never told “oh by the way we will put up your bill every year by x y % “

it seems to me that EE are just jumping on the same band wagon as every other company out there at the moment,  lining their pockets, hiking their prices up and blaming it on inflation. Can I ask if any your EE staff will receive a pay rise in line with this extra  revenue?, or will it go to senior management!?

i’m disappointed, I work for the NHS and along with everyone else at the moment we are all struggling a 14+% increase is just in poor taste.

I’ll definitely be leaving EE as soon as I can….

@Lorraine76   It’s in the T&Cs  of your contract you agreed too.

6. Annual Price Increase
Your Price Plan Charge includes an increase by the annual percentage increase in the Retail Price Index (RPI). We will do this so the price increase takes effect in March of each year

You’ll find that HERE

Still you do have that 20% NHS discount that majority of EE customers don’t have.

It’s not just EE that have price increases at this time of year all networks do it and  if I remember correctly only 2 MVNO networks didn’t increase prices last year and that looks the same as this year.    But they do not guarantee that a price increase will not happen while in contract with them

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Thank you for response

so what happens if inflation drops in March, will EE adjust customers percentage increase in line with this.

As stated by the Bank of England prediction inflation rates have now peaked and are due to fall to 4% by the end of the year, can you therefore can you confirm that EE will be lowering the 10.5% increase (not inc the 3.9% EE contractual agreed amount) in line with inflation if that is the case?!?

yes thank you for pointing out that I have a 20% NHS discount; which other EE customers do not receive; I find that point irrelevant, I also used to receive a 10% loyalty discount which was scrapped a couple of years ago probably like a lot of customers;  “loyalty” being the important word here and the lack of it from EE to their customers.
