Yesterday I was on the phone to a staff member and I paid to have next day delivery( to be deli Today) £9.98 via dpd I was told I’d get a text in the morning telling me the time it would be arriving

If you download the DPD app, do you have any deliveries showing for your address? 

Also, have you checked your emails to see if DPD have emailed you about the delivery?
