Resolved! Transferring physical sim to eSIM from old iPhone

My mum has a very old iphone and she has a new iPhone that is asking to transfer the eSIM across but her operating system on the old phone isn’t new enough. What else can be done? As it’s an upgrade we haven’t got a QRcode either.
