Hi, has any one experienced iPhone battery drain since joining EE ?
I was transferred over from Plusnet just over a month ago and have noticed the battery on my iPhone 6s does not last half as long as it use to, checked the battery use and condition and all looks normal with a battery condition of 90%. My wife has the same phone and has experienced the same issue. The battery drain appears to be worse over night when not in use , and no app’s running in the background.
Any ideas much appreciated

I am happy to report that it appears to be fixed for me! (fingers crossed!!!)
It turns out that it must have been caused by a mast fault in my area, because I received a "Network Update" text message from EE saying they had fixed the problem (though never acknowledged there was a problem!)
Although I have received a new SIM from EE, I have not used it, as the original SIM now seems to work, with no changes whatsoever to my phone settings.
I tested it yesterday with my 'normal' usage, and by end of day still had 60% charge. I then left the phone on overnight starting at 60%, and by morning it had only dropped to 50%. Previously, I tried leaving it on overnight with 100% charge, and by morning it had drained completely!
So the lesson is, if you have unexpected battery drain, report it to the coverage team (using the coverage checker web site), and hopefully this might fix it for you. My signal strength bar still only shows 2 bars inside the house, but there is now no excessive battery drain.
I'm not quite sure why EE found it so difficult to diagnose this problem, as it must happen frequently. I have spent many hours on this myself, and feel they should be able to tell if a phone is struggling to connect to their network, and draining the battery?
Anyway, I hope this helps someone with the same problem.

Great news Danny 8, sorry but I can’t say the same, I am looking at my phone now, it’s on charge again, can’t do the battery much good !! but the signal is 1 bar only and in the house never goes above 2 bars.
Have as you suggested reported it to EE network so fingers crossed they can sort it out, quite disappointed with EE service at the moment.
Thank you for the update.

Hi, I have noticed exactly the same thing since moving over from Plusnet to EE about 2 weeks ago. It's blatantly obvious to me that this is what's causing it. I have an Android phone.

Hi Meriden, thanks for joining the chat, as my previous post I have contacted EE network but had no response to date, according to their network checker I should have at least 4 bars where I live but I am not getting any thing like it , just checked my phone 10- 18 pm and only one bar of signal. It’s appalling, don’t know what EE will do if any thing and my wife’s phone is exactly the same ☹️☹️☹️

Have any of you tried a factory reset ? Just curious. And are these devices on the latest firmware?

Ha, I spoke too soon, as the problem has returned for me. I left the phone on overnight last night and it drained from 100% down to 22% in 7 hours. The brief period where it worked does at least show it CAN work. I made no settings changes to my phone, so it must be another EE mast problem in my area. I noticed the phone getting hot again and battery started draining at over 10% per hour when not being used (this is a brand new battery, fitted by an Apple authorised dealer and has had diagnostics checked with no problems).
If I pop a different SIM into the same phone with no changes to the settings and same usage the problem goes away, so it’s definitely the SIM/network.
I’ll now try the new SIM they sent, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll have to give up, and accept that EE simply doesn’t work for me with this phone in this area (though I live in a major UK city!)
The “piggyback” providers (like Giffgaff, Smarty, Lebara etc.) claim they are cheaper because they do not offer customer service or pay for celebrity endorsements, but I do not see this as a problem because EE support have been very disappointing in taking any interest in this problem and always offer the same basic (scripted) troubleshooting advice instead of actually fixing the problem.

Yes tried all that and more , everything Apple have suggested and they came to the same conclusion, network provider, or lack of network as the case may be. Firmware fully up to date 89% battery health .

Sorry to hear that, it must be that because of the poor signal from EE the phone is constantly searching for the signal, I notice Leanne is no longer adding to the post !!

Settings>Privacy & security>Location Services>System Services>. Turn off Mobile Network Search. You can also turn off other items you think you don’t need.
If your device is searching for a network to connect to it will drain the battery. I had this issue with a iPhone 4S and network reset resolved that. Have you tried this ?
This is what’s off on my device.

Chris, just checked and mobile network search is already off, I think apple told me to try that, as previously said I have tried everything I and apple can think of, no solution from EE though, it’s a real pain as constantly charging the phone will damage the battery .
