I am on an iPhone 12 Pro Max using iOS 15.6.
My email settings have worked fine, allowing me to send and receive email using the Apple Mail app. A few months ago, things changed. Email still works fine when I am on WiFi but is significantly delayed, or not working at all, when on the EE mobile network. This appears to be an issue when on 3G, 4G and 5G.
I have checked my email settings with my provider (Fasthosts) and they are correct.
The iPhone settings are correct (for using mobile data for email etc).
If I refresh the mail app screen to force a download, the 'checking for mail' message shows for some minutes, then it fails to connect with the server.
I also have an Apple iCloud email account. That works on WifI and the mobile network. I can also access my email using webmail.
Any suggestions greatfully received.

Hi James
It’s been mistakenly marked as solved again, but you’ll see it really isn’t.
could you remove the solved marker fir us again?
thanks!

I just had a thought, if you wanted to DM me. I also have an iphone11, also running iOS 16.1.1 and for me it doesn’t work at all.
id be very happy to speak with you by phone, comparing settings page by page to check on any differences - if you wanted. It might help pinpoint the issue. My only other thought is the one I posted earlier- Fasthosts have a lot of different email products that they sort of treat the same.
Maybe an email plus box is working differently to an email basic, etc.
anyway, just a thought!

I have been through all of the testing etc with EE. My issue has been receiving not sending email which works fine. I did find a work around which works reliably. if you look at the fasthosts set up for outlook 2019 using pop3 there is an option to remove SSL security and run using port 110 this works perfectly for me obviously you have to be happy with LOWER SECURITY

good luck

I had three lines on EE and this email has been frustrating me and my family for many months but I have now found a solution. Leave EE.
I have been unable to receive Fasthosts emails when on the mobile EE network for many, many months. The family have been complaining and driving me nuts. I was so fed up with trying everything and not working, I thought I would change one of my lines to O2.
As soon as I put the O2 sim in the iPhone, I was able to receive mobile email from Fasthosts instantly. I did not change a single setting in my phone for this to work, just the switch to the O2 SIM card. And it continues to work.
I have now moved a second line to O2 with same email success and will look to move my third line after Christmas.
EE are too stubborn to acknowledge they have an issue so the best way to show them that their customer apathy is damaging their business is to leave.

This is I am afraid the only solution which works reliably

Hi, how has your Apple mail been going since we spoke on your iPhone? Has it continued to work fine after we went through the settings on my previous posts to get it working?

Just a quick update. As per my previous response, I was planning to try the work around at my other property with the 4G hub last week as I've lawyers had an issue there (and no work-arounds). However, this week it worked fine - no settings changes at all.
Odd, but may go some way to explaining CSayer's experience with the settings changes. I am wondering whether the intermittent blocking only occurs with some allocated IP addresses and not others. Changing settings, rebooting devices etc may all lead to a refresh of the lease on the dynamically created IPs? Same may have happened over time with my 4G Hub. When I disconnected from the hub (which had one address) and went straight onto the mobile network again (another address) it didn't work. Previously it wasn't working with the hub either (which, to clarify, only works on 4G as we don't even have a telephone line to the property)
I know I'm clutching at straws but right now, it's all I have to clutch at. I do still have dialogue going on with FastHosts in the background and they are aware of this thread but drawing attention to the fact that some people have found solutions unfortunately. 🙁

Still intermittent emails with me too.
Fasthosts - there is NOT a solution to this yet that guarantees your email connects 100% of the time.
Migrate to another host would be a solution

An analogy of one workaround is my front door key doesn’t always work- leave the door unlocked!
