What is the Connected Red Button?

The Connected Red Button service on EETV gives you access to additional live TNT Sports content and interactive features exclusively through discovery+.

Features include:

• More To Watch rail
• Timeline Markers
• Event Alerts and more

How do you get started?

EETV Sport or Big Sport customers can access the Connected Red Button by pressing the red button on their remote control while watching any of the TNT Sports channels (1-10) on their set-top box.

This will launch a side panel, allowing EE customers to continue watching their match while exploring other courts and additional content available on discovery+.

Selecting any video within the panel will take you to the discovery+ app, where you can watch that video with an enhanced sport experience, as well as continue to browse all the additional content exclusive on discovery+.

What box do I need?

• EE TV Box Pro
• EE TV Box Mini
• EE TV Recordable Box
• EE TV 4K Recordable Box

I don’t have a discovery+ account, what should I do?

If you’ve opened discovery+ for the first-time or haven’t signed into the discovery+ app, you’ll be prompted to “Activate discovery+” or to "Sign in" before proceeding.

• Pressing “Activate discovery+” will provide you with information and steps on how to create discovery+ account. Once you’ve followed the steps, you’ll then be able to access discovery+ app and watch or browse all the additional content TNT Sports content exclusive on discovery+.
• Pressing “Sign in” will provide EE customers with information and steps on how to sign in using pin and pair, from there you'll be able to access discovery+ app and watch or browse all the additional TNT Sports content exclusive on discovery+.

One difficulty I have with selecting a match from the red button panel  on EETV is identifying who is playing  as for example often only one player is fully named.

eg   tomorrow (Wednesday)

Federico Arnaboldi is playing Michael ...

Kathinka Von Deichmann  -  ( no opponent showing due to length of 1st player name)

Anastasia Sobolieva is playing Julie

Anouk Koevermans is playing Justina

It is not a new update as the connected red button to display and launch discovery + content from TNT Sports channels has been around for a little while but is useful given the many courts in play at Roland Garros.

I do recall  from earlier discussions on the community that launching other apps from within the EETV app on Apple whilst possible appeared to fall into  “not permitted to do it” category.

If using this feature it is worth noting that UHD coverage is available (TNT Sport Ultimate) . There is UHD displayed on the image tile where this available. This UHD stream would normally be a separate additional stream to the standard HD stream.

This typically applies to matches on the main show court.(Philippe-Chatrier). 

The UHD  and HDR  linear TNT Sport Ultimate channels are also available on the EETV  boxes in their normal  channel numbers in the EPG.

From schedules it appears that UHD coverage will be available except when those channels are scheduling other sports in UHD . Ie today UHD  coverage appeared only to be available after the Premier League coverage  ended , and there appear to be breaks in  tennis UHD coverage on Wednesday  and next Saturday when Chelsea and Rugby games appear on TNT Sport Ultimate.

They do seem to be having some technical issues on discovery+ , for example  sound behind vision , on screen graphics (score) missing  on De Minaur v Deere  match currently,

The UHD coverage of the tennis is most welcome this year.

There are some peculiarities though.

First the UHD tennis stream appears not to be offered when TNT are broadcasting/showing other events such as football or rugby in UHD.  Is this a technical  limitation of discovery + ?

Secondly the UHD tennis  stream doesn't  seem to have the Timeline Markers and the other promoted features present whereas the HD streams do for the same match. I would add that discovery + do successfully  provide these and the other features on their football UHD streams eg the Chelsea game yesterday. ,
