Just had a call advising I was selected from valued customers to receive 40% off my monthly bill. The number was private which raised immediate suspicion and when I needed to confirm details, which I questioned and didn't answer she got very flustered. Told them I didn't believe a word of it and hung up 😡
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Had the same.
Ask me to find the email address, I asked to share my name, first, They said they can’t share any personal information due to security.
It was clear. It was an attempt to con.
I hung up, locked up online and saw this thread.
I have reported the number and sharing my experience with others to be wary.
Stay safe.

I had several calls today regarding 40%off from so called EE. 02081666589. They sent me a passcode on my phone without me asking provided some incorrect information and they knew my number.
Since I hung up 10+calls and I'm intrigued as to how they sent me a passcode and it states HOW THEY ARE ABLE TO SAY THERE from EE.
IS MY INFORMATION NOT SECURE WITH EE AS no one should be able to access my information and then send my phone a passcode.
I could also hear some fruitcake reading my details and offering me a discount on phones stating EE do not want to loose customers.
EE should perhaps send other customers an update of what method they would use to call us as clearly having a protocol in place would avoid such scams?!?!

Hi @Rax123
Thank you for getting in touch and telling us about the call that you received.
I can't see that number on our How do we contact you? page or our Phone numbers EE partners will call from page.
I'd recommend reporting the call via our Report a scam or nuisance call page, then a member of our phishing team will get this investigated.
It's understandable that you'd be concerned, so I'd advise giving us a call, and then a guide can give you access to your account and provide some reassurance.
