Promotional team call - scam?

Annalynch

Hello,

Today I received a call from a mobile number (07495947455) stating they were the promotions team for EE.
They were trying to sort out an upgrade deal for me which was very good. They then began asking me for personal details which threw me as I assumed if they worked for EE they would already have all this information.

I am very sceptical of accepting anything over the phone due to having experienced fraud before.

Does anyone know if this is a legitimate number?
Thanks

Thanks Anna. It is a Scam. But they had a lot of my information. Really freaked me out. Nearly fell for it. I've reported it to Action Fraud. So Easy to Fall for them. SCUMBAGS!!. Take Care x

Hi there.

I can go one further. So the above number called me. Had this great offer. 45% off my monthly bill for twelve months oh and I could choose a gift. immediately I smelled a rotten fish!! I voiced my doubts but to confirm they are from EE they called me back from an EE number 0800 0798586 and we continued the call. As I was still skeptical I was passed to the "team leader" who then gave me all my private info banking included!! I went ahead but when it came to I must pay £50 to kick start the special offer I said no. By this time I was too late. A brand new S23 Samsung phone was on its way to me. I got a text message DPD will deliver my parcel. As I was under the impression as I been told by EE the chosen "gift" (Samsung pods) will be with the next day. The next day came and no delivery. I looked at the next text received from DPD. Nobody home returned to base. Next I was now looking to see what the hell is going on as I was at home. EE cancelled delivery to return to EE.

I then called EE to enquire about this. In some uncertain terms and in my conclusion of this I think EE is very much aware of this and they will not support you in any way should you lodge a complaint. I completed a fraud paper with the EE customer care agent and was told this will be sorted in 5 days. I made it clear I do not want to see any deductions as it now surfaced that there was in fact a S23 send out and I am now getting billed for it!!!! Please rest assured nothing will be coming of your account as there is enough time for this to clear. Yeah right. Should I mention a debit order came off for a new handheld unit plus sim.

EE plays the game, but this should have been done!!! Its not done. No refund No phone No discount. No Air pods!!

The fight continue.......

Hi @10Stevenni,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

What was the original number that called you?

When you called Customer Care, did the agent confirm how the order was placed?

Hi @10Stevenni,

That definitely wasn't a genuine call from EE.

When was this raised to our fraud team?

Has the additional line now been removed from your account?

James

If you used Credit Card. Claim it back from the Credit Card Company. Under
Section 70. If you Used Debit Card. Claim Chargeback from your Bank.
EE have got to Big for their Boots. They Don't Care About Customers
Anymore. IT'S ALL to Do with MONEY 😞 .

Today I had a call from 020 8129 9245 from an Indian chap called David. He offered me an IPhone 15 Max Pro for £32 on a 24 month contract. What an incredible deal, right!!

I got him to email me the offer and then it become even clearer he was a scammer trying to get me to pay £32 over the phone. Apparently he was going to refund me the cost once I received the phone.  Told him he was a scammer, yet he continued denying it!
