Is it possible to port a number when outside of the UK?

If an EE eSIM card is activated in the UK, would I then be able to port a number whilst abroad or does that need to happen whilst still in the UK too?

I have two EE accounts and I want to swap the numbers on those two accounts.

One of them is ending soon, and I use that number more. I'm aware it's not simple but asking the store today they said about calling 150, but a forum search said about porting. What is the most up to date / recommended way to do this, if it's possibl...
