Transferred from BT Mobile

I have just upgraded my BT Mobile package and they have transferred me to EE.

I received and fired up the EE SIM card this morning. I was told by BT that I would not need the PAC code they sent me as my old number would be ported across automatically. Is this correct? If so, how long will I have to wait for the old number to go active on the EE SIM? 

(I tried entering the PAC code on the EE website but it wasn't recognised. I hope I haven't messed anything up).

@SKirby63  number ports take up to 24 hours. 

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.
