Roaming charges - need clarification on £2.29 per day vs. Roam Abroad Pass

My account add-on states: £2.29 per day for EU roaming (which cannot be removed).

If I take the option for a 'Roam Abroad Pass' for £15 (just for the time I am away) does this 'disable' the £2.29 per for EU roaming.  I see no logic in paying twice.

Hi @XRaySpeX,

There have been no changes to the policy of charging the pass on a pro-rata basis that I'm aware of.  Let me see if I can find out why this isn't reflected in the help article.

Thanks

James

I also would like clarification on this James, if you can, as I (like others) assumed that if I paid £15 for the rolling 30-day pass and cancelled it within 6 days, I would only pay £15.  I very carefully read the help pages before purchasing and I see nothing about billing periods.  I am therefore only expecting to pay £15 for my 6 days. However the 6 days does go over two billing periods for me. If I end up paying more than £15 I shall feel as if I've been cheated.

@Ant586 : The help page does talk about billing periods when you do end it. How do I get the Roam Abroad Pass? does say:

How do I remove my roaming pass?

If you cancel during your monthly billing period you’ll be charged £15 for the full month, not just for the days you had the pass.

So you are bound to pay more than £15, even £30 (subject to my earlier clarification), if your 6 days does go over two billing periods.

As clear as mud.  If that's what you take from that text, fair enough. It's not what it actually says.

@Ant586 : Really! I can't see any other interpretation. How do you interpret it?

Hi @Ant586,

If you're only going to be roaming for 6 days, the daily charge of £2.29 would be the most cost affective option.

James

"If it does not?"

Why create confusion?! The Roam Abroad Pass could simply state that it deactivates EU Roaming costs, if EE wished to clarify.

Ok - here's my scenario

I'm on a monthly plan.  My account billing month is from 4th of month to 3rd of following month.  On 2nd October I will travel to France returning on 5th.  On 9th October I'll travel to Spain returning on 16th.  So I'll use roaming for 12  days (4days france+8days spain).  If I simply use daily @£2.29 per day that would cost £27.48.

If I activate £15 monthly the day I leave (02/10/2023) and cancel the day I return from spain (16/10/2023) - will I be charged £30 (2 x £15)   ...  or   ...    £16 (£1 [2 days @£15 pro rata] + £15).

Furthermore - will the monthly price increase from £15 to £25 due on 18th October impact on any of this?

thanks if this can be clarified
