I'm currently in the process of relocating on a permanent basis to France however my phone contract is due for an upgrade very shortly.
As i would like to maintain my uk number and keep some of the perks, would this be an issue to simply renew and move expecting services to continue like normal while roaming or does ee operate similarly to O2 where you can only roam for 64 days in a 4 month period and have to return.
main reason i ask is i have a package included in my currently plan which allows me to continue to sue my phone in the eu + 5 other non uk countries where some of the french providers like sfr are abit flaky abroad and haven yet setup a bank aco**bleep** their presently making it abit more f a challenge.

Thankyou i figured this would be the case in line with their stable link policy.
was considering the upgrade purely as have been with ee for a number of years and they are unbeaten with coverage even abroad.

Hi @oleary
You'll need to transfer your number to PAYG and ensure your activation is on the UK network.
Then make the occasional chargeable call or text as per EE hibernation policy.
Ultimately you are best off using a local sim if you're relocating permanently.
Thanks

Yes, EE operates a Stable Links policy whereby you are expected to spend at least 2 months in the UK in any 4-month period to benefit from EE's roaming plans. If you don't you will be asked for an explanation and/or charged surcharges on your usage.

Also when you say your account is "due for an upgrade", the correct terminology should be that it's "entitled to an upgrade". Every user has their own preferences, but there's no automatic "must" upgrade if you don't want to.
As mentioned, EE is a UK network and roaming services are intended for those primarily resident in this country.

Must be a fairly new thing in recent years as had folks which maintained theirs after moving years back as they simply could and jist maintained a local top up sim for basics
