Not getting notifications of calls/messages

There recently was a network problem with EE in my area. There was no signal at all for a couple of days but then I got a message to say the problem had now been fixed. Ever since, my phone sometimes doesn’t ring when I get a call. I get no notification of messages until hours later. This happens with WhatsApp too. I’ve tried all the usual turning off/on, a hard reset, checking settings, turning off WiFi calling, etc. Nothing has helped. I’ve missed a very important call from the hospital about my surgery so I can’t tolerate this any longer. Does anyone know what the problem could be or will I have to change to a different network?

Does your phone show network coverage? Also you mention disabling WiFi-calling, but is the service being used - does your phone show a WiFi-calling indicator?

Yes, the phone shows network coverage but not as good as it used to be before the fault occurred. It’s still reasonably good though. The WiFi calling indicator no longer shows since I turned it off.

Hi @Ripply

Thanks for coming to the community.

Does this happen in more than one area?

How long ago was the problem fixed in the area?

Leanne.

The text from EE saying the network problem was fixed was on 3rd July. It’s hard to say if it happens in other areas because the problem is intermittent so I don’t know what I’m missing, if that makes sense. Some calls/messages come through fine but others I only get notifications of later or not at all.  Eg: I got a letter today from my pharmacy saying they have been trying to contact me by phone and couldn’t get through but I don’t know when they were trying to get through or where I was at the time.

Do you have any issues making outbound calls? Can you use mobile data whilst on calls?

There’s no problem making outbound calls. I’m not really sure what you mean about using mobile data on calls. Do you mean browsing the internet at the same time?

Indeed so. Using any internet-based function is a good test of your calls being over the 4G network.

That can be sending/receiving emails, browsing web-pages, using internet-apps.

I was using Map my Run whilst on a call this morning. Does that count?

I’ve just tried browsing the internet whilst on a call and that was fine too.
