4GEE WiFi Mini - not Working

RichL100

My 4GEE WiFi Mini appears to have stopped working, I have been unable to use it for around 2 weeks in different UK locations, it appears to have data (when I login to the webpage) but will not connect to the EE network, I have tried removing the battery and SIM but it refuses to work ..

Any ideas ...

Hi there @RichL100

Thanks for coming here 🙂

Do you have another device you could try the SIM card in to see if this connects for you?

Thanks.

Leanne.

Unfortunately not, I am not an EE customer other than the mini wifi device, are you thinking this is a SIM issue?

Hi @RichL100.

We usually ask you to try your SIM in another device so it will help us determine if the issue is with the SIM card or the WiFi Mini device.

Do you get any error messages when it doesn't connect?

Jon

Is it on contract or PAYG?

The mini wifi box was purchased from ARGOS to use at RAF Air Cadets and on RAF bases, there is no contract just PAYG and it has 69.2gb of 120gb remaining ... the device connects but has no service, it has an orange light on the signal indicator whilst the wifi and sms initially illuminate then go out after a few seconds ... I do not have any other devices to try the SIM in my phone contract is with Tesco/O2 so the sim will not work in my devices ..

When did you last use it for a chargeable action? EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-use. You then have a further 3 months to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.

You needed to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from your pack.

I wanted a device which I could use for mobile internet with the intention of paying to top it up when the loaded data expires, what you are telling me here is having purchased the device I can only use it if I pay for other services?  This is misleading and by the sounds of things a waste of money ...

is the description of the product on the ARGOS Website, no mention of it being deactivated etc ...

You accepted this condition when you agreed to the T&Cs when you signed up:

You must make a connection action at least once every 180 days. If you do not, your SIM card will be disconnected from the network, and you will not be able to use the service at all. You will also lose your mobile phone number. Any credit on your account at the time of disconnection will be forfeited.

‘Connection actions’ are:
 Making a chargeable outbound call
 Sending a text message
 Topping up your account
 Making a payment for an Add-On

You do get some leeway on that by calling CS within 90 days to reinstate it.
