I am currently outside the UK, in the EU and I have a my traveling pass on (paying an extra 2.47£) and while I have access to my data on my phone, I am not being able to use my phone as a hotspot to access the internet on my laptop. I tried everything, I think I have enabled everything that needs enabling. Is it that while roaming we can't use the hotspot? Please help! The only reason why I am incurring these charges while abroad is to be able to use my phone for internet for working on the laptop. Thank you.

Hi - it now appears to be working. I'm not sure why it's suddenly working after six days and the day before I fly home - but it's working again.

I had exactly the same problem, turning my phone off & on made it work.
I have no explanation for why this would make it work.

I can confirm the good old ‘turn it off and on’ trick was the solution for me!

Good morning @carfax, welcome to the EE Community!
Just to check, are you able to get online when using data on the phone normally?
Also where is it you're visiting at the moment?

Same issue for many months, actually ever since I went to iPhone 15 pro. Travel a lot with work and always such an issue with the hotspot issue.
I have tried everything, on/off, roaming check, data on.. I have no more ideas.
You can actually see the phone as an available connection and then get the ! Through the WiFi signal when trying to connect. Any other ideas?

I've known scenarios where changing to a different local roaming network can affect hotspot behaviour.
Toggling off/on or airplane mode could achieve the same without realising. Some of the posters in this thread found the same.
