Hi Josie-96, do you have a Sony account? If not they will not be able to do anything to help as they can't trace the person through your phone number. When I called I had an advisor send me an email confirming I wasn't responsible for the transactions as I don't have an account.

Contact Boku customer support, they are the company they use for the billing and will be able to process the refund, state how much has been charged to you and if you get that email I'd attach it to your complaint.

Hope this helps and you get somewhere quickly

You definitely can contact them, explain you don't have an account with Sony which is why you've gone to Boku.

Hi this has happened to me with £98 worth of charges and I have no idea what it’s for.

How do I contact Boku

Hi just type in Boku into google and it will come up and then you just follow the process it’s pretty easy good luck they were great to be fair and we have received the money back

Exactly what Cakey has said, also call EE and have all 3rd party apps blocked on your account as it could happen again. I originally found the link to their customer support in the community pages but it has been removed! So much for support eh.

I have raised a complaint with EE as they seem quite happy to pass the blame on Sony. My guess is, like with others, you had no warning of this and no checks were made?

In my eyes EE are just as much to blame, we live in a world with so much digital security yet someone can just put our numbers in and purchase something straight away and we have to then chase it up to get our own money back, no support whatsoever.

Keep us updated, it'll be great to hear you've been successful.

Hi there @Customer13

You can find ways to contact us on the Contact EE page.

Please let us know how you get on after our complaints team get in touch with you.

Leanne.

Good afternoon everyone,

Thought I'd just put something in here to update on the complaint I'd put in.

From the 1st response I had EE have inferred me, the customer, is at fault for what has happened here because I did not have something in place to block my number being used by a 3rd party.

If you don't have what is called a charge to bar added to your number then anyone can place your number in the 3rd party apps/site and charge services to you without any verification at all.

I responded to the, less than adequate, reply by stating how are customers to know that something which should 100% be automatic, is actually an optional extra, therefore EE does not provide that security a customer thinks is already in place to prevent fraud.

The responses I've received from that have just parroted the first reply, EE say they do provide security, they are not at fault and it's simply the 3rd party that needs to beef up their security.

3 different people have said this, which just goes to show how woeful the training is at EE in regards to customer service. How can a customer be blamed for having fraud committed against them when EE do not have a facility to inform the customer fraud has actually taken place, I had to wait for money taken out my account to find out these charges were on my bill!

They have now stopped replying completely even though I have said to not close the complaint as their responses have been unsatisfactory, needless to say EE have lost 5 customers now once our contracts are ended.

In short, if you haven't already, I would call EE and have this charge to bar added to your number, it is incredible that you have to ask for it to be added.

Has anyone received their money back yet?

I have sent over 10 emails to Sony and guess what…….totally ignored! I have had over £500 taken by this scam and have escalated this with EE, I am taking it to the ombudsman and I suggest you all do the same!

Both parties will be fined for this and hopefully you will get your money back!

Oh and cancel you DD’s too so this can’t happen again to you!!! Start sticking up to the likes of EE etc! 20 years as a customer and zero help! They are useless and just pass the book!

Did you get anywhere?? 🙏🏻

Did you ever get your money back? They’ve taken over £500 via my EE DD! 😡
