Hi I was moved to EE from Plusnet due to wanting to retain a landline.
I was supplied with a EE Smarthub Plus and have been experiencing periods on traffic issues where the latency beyond the LAN goes high >1000ms and packets start to be dropped.
I have tried a second Smart Hub Plus and am experiencing the same thing.
I suspect something is happening with in the hub itself rather than a change in the connection between the hub and the cabinet, as the lan itself stays stable under load but the traffic through the hub really struggles, it is making streaming services unusable at times.
is there any traffic shaping and QOS occurring in this hub? There is very little to configure on the hub setup pages themselves, are there options CS can enable/disable to help with traffic?
I simply didn’t have these issues on the Plusnet router/modem
Thanks

@XRaySpeX Thanks for that, @Chiliblue not good values so really time for you to do the BTW so your line can be looked at, see link to mine also will let you see what to blank, address checker to get your info.....
My old BTW has both the copper and fibre info.

Hi Jim,
Haven't had time to strip down the network - but did get time to script a ping log in the current setup.
192.168.0.1 is the EE Hub Plus
192.168.0.50 is a Linux Server that does NAS and Media Server duties wired directly to the hub.
192.168.0.169 is where this script and the pings are being run from.
8.8.8.8 needs no introduction.
script pings (192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.50, 8.8.8.8 ) 30 times every 10minutes, and records the summary. The graphs are plotted from that data.

Cont... Its a dramatic jump...
Yes it is a pretty terrible connection bandwidth wise, but I am some way from the exchange, cabinet and old copper running through trees etc. In retrospect I should have stayed with plusnet and just dropped the landline (we haven't even plugged the phone in since migrating)
Also "BTW" ?
These graphs are really to give me a baseline to work from, as the issue is really intermittent I wanted to check if any of this correlates to regular activity on the network. I am going away for a few days so it should build up a timestamped pattern is there is a correlation.
Cheers

@Chiliblue If you get a chance take a look at your sync on the EE hub with the web manager, linked below an old one from mine whilst on the copper connection, give me a minute to find it on the Forum. Sure looks like External issue but the time away will show in case it is a wifi hang up making the network busy but for so long a time period suspect NOT that.

@Chiliblue Post rejected something not blanked that the Mod is just not going to let through for you.

Here is a redacted version, suspect it was the inclusion of the s/n

@Chiliblue Although not the best, you speed is matching that of the EE Hub and what the BTW thinks is good, your WAN/DSL has stayed up at least for the 4 day's as the status is reporting, and your UP could be a little better but no one ever supports that as a priority, do keep an eye on the figures they may just change ever so slightly and the EE Hub does not have the reporting tools to aide finding out unfortunately.
If it was me, i would go out look for a 2nd hand BT Smart Hub 2 that will cover everything you need, connection and DV landline wise, but as you say network looks good until the External to google really plays up bad.

Thanks for the reply Jim,
The irony is I used to buy my own router/modems until FTTC was installed.
Will see what the plot looks like when I get back when I have a big enough sample size, I imagine I can probably argue an end of contract and just return to PlusNet on their Hub which didn't have this issue as effectively they have the same parent. Won't be any faster but was certainly more stable. I am in the process of selling this house and moving, so with that move I will have more options. Ironically I have FTTB at my holiday home and none of these issuess (Again different provider).
The larger issue for me through this is the difficulty of getting any meaningful support, it took several calls even just to get a replacement Hub. At no point has anyone mentioned firmware versions. It is as if the technical support is entirely disconnected from the internet, and either has very little access to the Hub itself. They seem to be just looking at status of the connection at the cabinet.
