Two years extremely bad services.

Two years of extremely poor internet service.
Since we signed with EE, the connection has been unreliable and completely inadequate for what we need. HD channels regularly can’t be watched properly, and working from home is often almost impossible because of the poor speed and unstable connection.
For two years, we have repeatedly been told that full fibre is “coming soon”. Two years later, we are still waiting.
At this point, the promises mean very little. We have been paying for a service that has consistently failed to meet a reasonable standard.
If you rely on your internet for working from home or streaming, I would think very carefully before signing with EE based on our experience.
Extremely disappointing.

@Calms Is it EE that has been promising you that FF Full Fibre is coming, if so they should not be doing so as the Infrastucture has nothing to do with the what so ever. Sounds more like you have issues on your copper connection, have you asked EE to get it looked at?

Yes, we’ve had around 7–8 BT engineers out since moving to EE, and they’ve all said the same thing — we’re at the end of the copper line, so the signal just isn’t strong enough.

We’re thinking of moving to Starlink now. Has anyone used it and would you recommend it?

@Calms I have never used so cannot say how it is or performs, do you have any neighbours using per chance. FF does make a huge difference but it can be the waiting game for OR or another Altnet supplying in time.

The EE Smart Hub 6+ can be quite picky on a copper DSL line, i had the same 3.5 months of real poor on it sync would just gradually fall away from the norm 40/10Mb/s then down would fall back to around the 20Mb/s down, once i got the OR Engineer to back trace and find the fault after that 46/10 was never an issue again, 8 months later from joining EE, FF was on the pole so instantly signed up and never a issue on that at all Fibre wise.

Stuck on FTTC , & playing the Openreach waiting game , i feel your pain was in the same position , glad i moved house in the end The issue here isn't EE , no matter what provider you go for it will be the same , the issue is that copper connection.

No matter what provider you go with it will be the same as they will all be using that same copper line & that is the insanely annoying problem with being on a bad copper line & waiting for Openreach to install a  FTTP (Full Fiber) , its a horrible position to be in.

Welcome to EE's Home Broadband Forum.

Is it the BB as a whole dropping or just the WiFi connections? Do Ethernet connected devices stay working? What colours are the light sequence when it happens?

If you would like help with your BB speed or connection issues, please would you carry out the following steps for starters, which will enable us to diagnose the problem and advise you further. Do not restart your router to do these tests:

1. Post your full router stats:

  • For a SmartHub: login and go to Advanced Settings > Technical Log > Information. Obscure your names & any numbers in the BB Username & also the SSIDs. Also post the Home > Status page.
  • For a BrightBox: login and go to Advanced Settings > System > DSL Status. Also post 'System Uptime' from top of System Log page.
  • For other routers: login to it according to the label on it as the admin user & navigate looking for its router/connection statistics.

Full router stats are key to any speed & connection issues.

2. Try a speedtest, preferably wired using an Ethernet cable supplied with the router, here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html . Click on the "Results Page" button at the bottom of the graph you first see and then copy to here just the "Link to this result:" link that you see below the next main graph.

3. What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker, not the Postcode Checker.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.
