Hi,

Newtork Interface eth 1, 2 or 3, keep going down and up is this normal and what does it mean? Is the hub bringing them down and up?

The hub is the EE Smart Hub Plus, the latest one

Here is just an example but there are many, many lines of this:

23/02/2024, 07:37:00Network interface eth3 down
23/02/2024, 07:36:03Network interface eth3 up
23/02/2024, 07:35:59Network interface eth3 down
23/02/2024, 07:35:02Network interface eth3 up
23/02/2024, 07:34:57Network interface eth3 down

@CJMH  do you have anything connected to your router ethernet ports?

Are you having problems with your service?

I note you have already asked about eth0 - but have not said much about any issue you might be having.

Hi,

sorry should have said more but was trying to get more info for self understanding.

regular drops from the internet. Hybrid connect won’t pair but did once. Eth 1 to 4 are Ee tv, hybrid connect, NAS

thanks

@CJMH  is your service Full Fibre or via a telephone line?

I beleive there will be lots of other entries in the log, but spotting the ones triggering the eth down might take a bit of looking at.

You could try disconnecting your LAN devices to see if the trigger is coming in on eth 0 and if that is not your ONT what is connected to it? If it is the ONT, do you notice any change to the lights on the ONT - the LAN one will go down, but do the others change?

@Mustrum

Full FIbre 900mb

Only 1 or 2 eth0 disconnections, eth0 is connected to ONT. ONT lights are as expected, one going off briefly when eth0 drops.

Hi, did you get anywhere with this issue?

I have just had a new EE Smart Hub router (swapped from BT Smart router on Halo 3) installed.

One of my CCTV cameras seems to have an issue similar to the one you describe.

About every  11 mins, the camera reboots itself.

This did not occur with the BT router.

This coincides with these two messages in the router log at the same time.

18/07/2024, 16:42:00Network interface eth4 up
18/07/2024, 16:41:58Network interface eth4 down

EE did not know what this message meant but has agreed to send a replacement router.

Did you manage to find out what the problem may be?

Barry

@Barnesbj : Is the camera connected by Ethernet? "eth4" is LAN port 4.

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply.

The problem occurs on whichever ethernet port I connect to and with other wired devices when I connect them.
