I am an EE broadband customer and when I try to log in to WiFi hotspots whilst out it just doesn't happen and reverts back to the login page.
User name and password are both correct but it never wants to actually work ?????
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Then you're legacy & can't use it for free.
See Help with EE WiFi :
Most new EE Broadband and BT Broadband customers are automatically registered for EE WiFi, unless you've opted out. You can get online at an EE WiFi hotspot using your EE ID or BT ID and password.
N.B. New BB only.

@Paulr10 : Are you on EE New BB or legacy BB? It is not available for legacy BB.

I have exactly the same issue. I’ve only just signed up for Ee and so am not “legacy”!

Is there any way to become not legacy?

@Scruffian : Upgrade to New EE BB if they allow you.

I migrated from BT, I have my Broadband account no GBxxxxxxxx.
Where do I get my EE id from?
