EE Hotspot login

Our household all make use of the free access to EE hotspots that ou homebroadband account gives us when they're out and about. However, since last Friday, once the username and pasword has been accepted, instead of going to the "you're connected" screen and letting us use the hotspots, it thows up an OTP needed screen.

The problem is, the OTP only goes to one phone number (the bill payer) meaning the rest of our household are currently unable to use hotspots when they're out and about anymore unless he happens to be with them at the time.

Why has this suddenly started happening and how do we turn it off/get rid of it?

I also noticed at the same time Apple devices (iPhone and iPad) can no longer log into the hotspots either, it proceeds as above but instead of throwing up an OTP screen they just stop and wont proceed.

Seems like something's been broken by EE.

WiFi Coverage Boost is not the entire public EE WiFi network but a subset of it.

Thanks for taking the time to highlight this, @AlanRob.

I can absolutely get this double checked for you.

Do you know if you require two factor authentication for logging in to your account otherwise, or is it just for the hotspots?

Peter

Thank you @Peter_W It's appeared for everything, account login authentication (which I can understand having it on) and on hotspots (which is where the problem is). I can confirm I haven't opted in to 2FA, it just appeared uninvited.

Have you managed to make any progress?

I see there's another thread about the same thing here.

Possibly related, I've noticed over recent days that after using passkey authentication to log into the forums, it's then triggering an SMS and expecting me to enter that too! Definitely didn't used to do this and it's somewhat anomalous when I've already authenticated using biometrics! 🙄

I've noticed this need for an OTP too in the last week. I've never asked for it. It's messing me up with my PAYG a/c. I want to link a no. I have in my mobile router but it insists on sending the OTP to a no. I don't use.

@Katie_B : Please remove this OTP from my a/c too. What has gone swimmingly in the past has now thrown all my browsers & devices off besides having to keep running for my mobile which I don't have glued to my ear !
