No DynDNS and told we get a like for like service with a switch

Hi there.

After now 17 calls, over 24 hours on the phone with EE, switching from BT to EE broadband I was told the EE service will be a like for like with BT.  I asked if i can use my wifi extenders with the new EE hub, was told yes, then sold the hybrid connect as part of the deal and later found out that I was lied to.

I have raised now 3 complaints and getting to the point where EE service is not fit for purpose.

My question and issue is has anyone been able to get DynDNS working with the new EE Smart hub pro+ or whatever the new hardware is called?

Dyndns workts fine with the BT hardware and annoyed with EE that I was told that everything would work as it should.  Total nightmare issue with EE

@oldskoolsandhu If you still have all off your old BT Equipment just put it back, works on an EE Service fine, will leave some off the other Pro user's to answer your DDNS service enquiry. And below.

And about DDNS link for you to look at?

@oldskoolsandhu - what problem are you having with DDNS and what provider are you using? When I've used it, it seems to work, although it sometimes returns a status message suggesting that there's a problem. This didn't seem to stop my IP updating though.

Hey mate

i use DynDns.  I was sold on that EE had a superior firmware then BT

Totally

ive raised a complaint that the EE hardware is no good for my purpose at home.

sales agent told me I would have the same service as BT

BT hardware has been plugged back in and will let EE sort this out.

Another update.. I switched everything back to my BT hub, however now see that my speeds are around 90mb and not 900mb. the hub is reporting 1000mb connection but appears that BT hardware has been throttled back. I plugged the EE pro hub back in and getting 570mb on avg speed.

Appears that EE are doing something where the old BT hubs are providing slower speeds for some reason.

Ah, I missed that detail in your post 🙄

So, is your problem that DynDNS is not listed as an available provider on the newer hubs? If so, I'd be surprised if the list is updated any time soon.

Why not sign up for one of the providers that is available? I think most of them offer some sort of free account.

Failing that, if there is a machine on your network that's powered up most of the time then you could install a DynDNS client on it and have that update your IP address instead of the router.

I don't think there's any intentional throttling of the older hubs going on, as plenty of comment from round these parts where people have moved backwards without issue.

@oldskoolsandhu Your ONT may just not like the switching back and forth with the devices, so would just power the ONT off for 5 minutes, have your BT Smarthub2 up and ready to go, maybe even pull the wan on it, ONT on, let it get booted up takes about the 2 minute mark, connect the BT wan back on, watch it connect to the blue light, give it a few minutes and speed test then to see it is ok on the network!
