EE Smart Hub Plus poor range and connection strengh compared to BT Smart Hub 2

Monaco24

Our BT broadband contract came to an end so we've moved fully to EE now and been sent out an EE Smart Hub Plus to replace our BT Smart Hub 2. There seems to be a considerable reduction in range with the new EE box and an unstable or poor wifi connection in parts of the house that were fine with the BT box. All in all it feels like a downgrade, has anyone else had similar issues with the EE boxes?

I'm tempted just to send it back and stick with the older BT box but not sure if that will cause any issues down the line..

Thanks

We've had identical problems.

The old BT hub and discs worked flawlessly but we were persuaded to 'upgrade' to EE Broadband for a better mobile deal. Fourth engineer coming out in as many weeks. Unfortunately their strategy of dividing their business and residential customers between BT and EE means that moving back to a BT system probably isn't an option.

Also, when they organised our switch to EE, they didn't ask about our Open Reach box, which it turned out was too old to  handle the new system.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having some problems with your connection, @Richard245.

Fingers crossed the engineer can figure out what's causing the problem. Please let us know how it goes.

Sorry I have no help for your issue. Came here to say I am having the same issues as described here and frankly I'm disappointed. I feel as if BT sold me a bitter, mouldy lemon when persuading me to move to EE. I sent my BT router back as instructed and sorely wish I did not. I wish I never moved over to be honest. I have been an avid EE mobile customer for at least 15 years, but the poor broadband experience I am having has burned it all to the ground and I am absolutely without a doubt leaving EE as soon as this contract ends. My router has packed in after only 9 months of having it, leaving me without broadband for 4 days when I work solely from home. The Smart hub connect cannot work because the router doesn't work; so much for unbreakable wifi. The range is poor, speeds are average and I can't screenshare effectively due to this without lagging and broken connections. If you are considering a move to EE - just don't (especially if you are a BT customer).

@natashah08 : What is the name of the EE BB plan are you on including its speed?

@natashah08 With all the BT hype it may be now that the move back to them is an allowed, so keep it in mind when the time comes around, know exactly how you are feeling, my 1 year stint certainly opened the eyes, so no longer an EE customer with any off the products.

Full works fiber 67 - averaging speeds of 67MBPS. My guaranteed d/l speed is 60MBPS.

Most definitely! I hope you are happier since moving 😊
