Dynamic IP - How often does it change?

Hi,

I am a EE broadband user. I understand that this means my IP changes ( or is dynamic in other words) every so often, as opposed to static.

My question is, how often does the IP change? Every day? Week? Month?

Many thanks.

@Dynamic_ip_q   it depends on how stable your line is and how often it looses sync.

For example a rural line a long way from a cabinet with old wiring in between is likely to re-sync more often to one next to a cabinet or a full fibre line. Alas no exact answer.

What type of broadband do you have?

@Dynamic_ip_q Potentially when Power issue to Router/ Network issue reset by OR, EE can also do so, and what type off service that you are supplied with. There is no time that could be specific or guessed in anyway.

It could be anytime but it is fairly static. I've had my current IP since 17 Jan.

This isn't mine, but it looks identical.

So , if I hypothetically turned off the power source to the router for a few hours or so, there is a decent chance I get a new IP?

Or not as the case may be!

@Dynamic_ip_q   Your pic does not say what kind of broadband you have.

Switching off can change the IP, EE use a block of numbers for a local area and tend to be sticky - ie you could get the same one back if no one else has picked it up in the mean time.

What is it you are really after?

You seem to have the wrong booklet, Smart Hub Plus, with the wrong router, Smart Router.

Nothing, just the question I asked in the OP. I'm not sure how to determine what broadband I have, I am not the one who bought it or the one who is paying for it. I have no issues with it and it has been fast and reliable.
