Can I have two Pro boxes?

I am an EE subsciber and I have a Pro box in one room and a mini box in another room. Is it possible to change the mini box for a Pro box so that I have two Pro boxes and no mini boxes?  Want to put a Pro box in the second room as it is a better piece of kit which has a recording facility. Would it work?

Hi @philwolstenholm

There are other threads on this but unless something has changed then EE will only supply one Pro box.

Thanks

EE TV extra box addon comes with a loan EE Box Mini . No other loan box options are currently offered and no indication of EE changing  that strategy.  So getting a second Box Pro from EE is unlikely. Were you to actually have a second recordable box then  it should  currently work if used instead of the supplied EE Box Mini. It is unclear how those individuals or retailers who sell Box Pros are sourcing their boxes. EE and BT have not relinquished ownership of box pros supplied  on loan as part of their EETV  contracts.

Yes it would.

You would need to acquire a Pro Box yourself from a third party such as eBay or CeX, then you swap it for the Mini and when you get the message “Too many boxes on your broadband”, you say “Yes” to making the Pro Box your ‘main box’.

The caveat is as outlined by others, technically EE boxes of any flavour are no one’s to sell, they are loaned and should be returned at the end of a subscription. So, whilst this works currently, BT/EE could choose to block it in some way in future.

Lastly, if you don’t have Full Fibre, recording multiple streams on two Pro Boxes will eat up bandwidth.
