Yes definitely there. I updated my app two hours ago and it's still there. I'm not with EE for my mobile so definitely home phone.

Hi

If you have tried and not succeeded in having EE turn off voice mail.
But they tell you its impossible.
You are not alone, there are 50 people on this website alone.
Two people report managing it after hours of going through EE support.
Look up the communications ombudsman
And send in a complaint, if enough people write in EE will be told to fix it.

@strangerover : You can't go to the Ombudsman until you've exhausted a formal complaint with EE. You can make a formal complaint to EE & if you don't get satisfaction after 8 weeks you can take it to EE's ADR provider. See Complaints code of practice and here is the Complaints Form .

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

True,
EE will reply with the weblink to complain after the process is complete
but if I am the only person that puts the effort into following this process, then it won't be taken seriously.

I can see a lot of people are very annoyed.
Its down to everybody reading this community page to put in the effort if they want it fixed.
Don't just accept no and grumble.

But thats not quite right is it.

I can complain to Ofcom with regards to how the service was sold and continues to be sold. I do not need to go through EE first at all.

Since the service cant be turned off now it's enabled on my phone then I'll vote with my feet in a few months time, I'm sure EE/BT wont miss my meagre contribution.

@strangerover : It is! Ofcom don't resolve individual complaints. They are only looking for trends affecting many peeps. Your complaint will just be added to the pool until they see fit to act or not.

You can vote with your feet, I may do that if I cannot get it changed, as the system is unusable.

At the end of the day in many comments it shows "that the product was miss-sold".
People on BT were told switching to EE gave the same features.

There is also a group called Age Concern who are very vocal when it adversely affecting elderly people.
I have not looked at how one person had it disabled due to having a disability, but I intend to follow it up.

It also comes into the equality act, having a system such as the app that cannot be used by the elderly or disabled.
Is illegal.

The final point is why are EE being so stubborn about a minor reversal of a feature that was in the software.
What do they gain?

I know what you mean, I have two elderly family and I was going to recommend EE as their broadband and phone supplier but I wont now as I just get it in the ear that the system isnt working right or its too techie for them.

You can see why they have  made the app so allegedly 'feature rich' they want to reduce the CS costs and manage everything in one place, alas, the app is flawed . Of the 20-30 times I have used the app, one thing or another is broken just like them offering the settings to change the number of rings before pick up.   the last option 'should' be voice mail off. but in my case it got to 10 rings then it broke. Why offer the setting if is doesnt work.  For a company that prides itself in its customer service, the app element is seriously letting the side down.

I know I could bump it up to 10 rings via the phone but thats not what I want, I dont ever want EE to store and have my voice messages on my landline. ever.

there are a couple of reason why they are being stubborn, either its fundamentally broken and cant now be turned off, there is commercial value in leaving it running, perhaps training AI etc or some darker reason I've not thought of.
