Does anyone know how I deactivate the voicemail on my landline please

I’m having my service installed next week, but was hoping to get it disabled before it went live. Did the person in the text above add and remove the answer service themselves via the EE App? If so I’ll try this once mine is live.

@L1ll13 This is a once only tell to you, ONLY EE CS can do the request for you, you have no hope in hell of doing anything by app, playing with settings etc etc etc in any way shape or format!

And if they have decided no more time spent wasting effort at the EE side, then as per your reply from the top boss assistant forget it, it's not getting done. You should be more concerned about getting DV and it working.

They first tried telling me it could be done in the EE app or online account.  My other problem was that I couldn't login. Now it's all sorted, I can confirm that you can't disable the answer service yourself at all. They must do it.

I spent an hour and a half on the phone yesterday and spoke to three different departments including Technical and basically it isn’t possible to deactivate EE Voicemail! It sounds crazy in this day and age of alleged technology to not be able to effect this as could be done with BT in the past. I pointed out that this was the most retrograde step I have ever heard of but sadly i think it fell on deaf ears.  The only solution I could come up with was leaving a message on their voicemail service asking callers not to leave a message but to try again later otherwise it requires you to call 1571 every time you leave the phone unattended or pick up the phone and listen to the dialling tone which will be intermittent, indicating you have a voicemail message! RIDICULOUS!!

I know, I emailed Marc Allera, (CEO of EE), to complain and a member of his team called me later that evening, and basically confirmed it wasn’t something that they currently offer. She said most people were glad to be getting a service that other operators charged for.  I responded to this comment that by saying that looking at the forums I would have to dispute that as there were many people, like myself that wanted the option to switch it off. All she could say to that was you can lengthen the time before it kicks in, which is fine if you can get to the phone in 30 seconds, but it’s not always possible, especially for older people or people with mobility issues.

Maybe if Mr Allera gets inundated with emails asking for the ability to turn it off, he’ll listen to his customers. I know you cannot post email addresses on the forum, but I found it by searching for EE on the CEO email website,  https://www.ceoemail.com.

I also pointed out that other operators like Sky, Virgin and Vodafone all gave customers the option to switch off their voicemail, and that it seemed that EE’s attitude was a little dictatorial with the only option to not have it was to move to another operator. I also mentioned that it would have been nice if sales told me that voicemail was standard and couldn’t be turned off at the point of ordering, I know it’s on the website that it it’s free, but nowhere does it say it can’t be deactivated.

Thanks for that information. I think it’s disgraceful. The people I spoke to managed to get me thoroughly confused making me feel like a complete and utter dimwit.  They didn’t appear to know what an answerphone was and when I tried to explain that my main handset (cordless) and BT  was combined with an answerphone they implied that these things didn’t exist although it worked perfectly well until I transferred to EE. It flashed with a red light when I had been left a message but now I have to lift the receiver and listen to the dialling tone to see if I’ve got a message. REALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE!

I've never wanted voicemail on my landline (or my mobile) so if anyone at EE is watching this topic PLEASE change things so your customers can choose. I've just missed a call because the stupid thing kicked in before I could get to the phone! 😡

Hi @MikeW26

Whilst it's not possible to disable answerphone on landlines at present, you should definitely be able to do this on your mobile.

Just send us a text with VM OFF to 150 and this will disable the divert.
Peter

Why is EE so STUBBORN about this - so many PEOPLE WANT LANDLINE
VOICEMAIL TURNED OFF!
