I like many as I have seen on here want to be able to turn off my landline voicemail, and was very frustrated when I found that this was not possible. It’s also makes it extremely difficult for people with mobility issues to answer the phone before the voicemail kicks in even with setting it to 10 rings. Does anyone know if a petition has been set up to get this made possible or if anyone has reported the issue to ofcom.

Hi
No petition that I know of. Contacting OFCOM is a good idea, have you done it? Your point about mobility issues and all the other complaints regarding elderly parents and vulnerable/confused people will, I believe, make this a discrimination issue. I will put a complaint in to OFCOM and think it would be helpful for others to do the same.

This is driving me crazy today! I called EE earlier and asked directly "please can you tell me how to disable voicemail on my landline". The call handler then kept me chatting for almost 15 minutes, whilst "his team" looked into "re-programming my personal phone software" and finally announced that no, it's not possible to turn it off. So frustrating. And he tried to get me to switch my mobile to EE at the same time ... no thanks! I wonder whether he knew at the start of the call that the answer was going to be NO (and if not, then why does a tech call-handler not know) and he was playing the game to make me believe they were checking.
Anyway, I've just submitted a complaint with OFCOM raising the discrimination issues in previous posts, and the barefaced arrogance of EE literally forcing an unwanted service on its customers. All other folks who are frustrated with this issue, please do the same thing.

@Cait_SingsIrish For anyone reading or searching about switching off removal off voicemail etc etc, EE have now stated as per policy it will NOT be getting removed, switched off or anything done to it, part off the EE DV service and it is staying as such no if/and/ or buts. What happens in the future well let's see that!

If you have tried and not succeeded in having EE turn off voice mail.
But they tell you its impossible.
You are not alone, there are 50 people on this website alone.
Two people report managing it after hours of going through EE support.
Look up the communications ombudsman
And send in a complaint, if enough people write in EE will be told to fix it.

Hi
I contacted bbc watchdog and a researcher called me back.
I recommend you contact watchdog and your local U3A to complain about EE business tack-ticks .
Both are prepared to listen.
