Hi. I'm currently an EE mobile user and considering moving my broadband from Sky to EE. I have FTTP but have had problems with sky. @JimM11 has been really helpful on the sky forum trying to help me sort the issues. I was hoping to use my ASUS RT-AC86U instead of the provided smart hub plus to help provide better coverage in my home. Can anyone help provide the details needed to do this and settings needed on the ASUS router. I found a post on how to do it with BT (see photo) but have been unable to find anything for EE. Thank you in advance.

Oh yeah then you'll likely be just fine!
It's really just at the higher speeds that PPPoE is a nasty plague.
For reference I believe PPPoE was introduced in around 1998/1999 back when dial-up was still prevalent and Broadband was still a dream for most people! After 25 years or so you think they would have adopted newer protocols.
I really do wish EE would get rid of it and adopt newer and more appropriate connections methods especially as speeds get faster.

@JimM11 An update. I spoke to Sky this evening. They're sending another engineer on Thursday as there must be an issue with the router. I explained that the last engineer checked the router and was happy it was working as intended! The person I spoke to at sky said they would then contact Openreach to check the line. However they said that last time and are now pushing another engineer visit. I'm so annoyed with it all. I'm tempted to take the hit (£40 exit fees) and move over to EE.

@ArgyleGreen Sorry for the late reply, just another couple of day's but do not think they will find the fix for you. You should start the prep with them, get the booster that they put in out, your AP back on line, and can't remember if they had replaced your router before, would also ask them to try a new ONT also, all to your benefit is one way to look at it. Thank you. They have already replaced the router late last year. The engineer tomorrow won’t be able to do the ONT, I’m guessing open reach would do that. What made me laugh was while on my way to work this morning there was an advert on the radio advertising that Sky broadband was the least complained about broadband provider according to OFCOM. 😂

@JimM11 Another update. They have cancelled tonight's engineer visit (very last minute). I've had an email saying they're sending another new router. I'm very angry. I would like to use stronger words but I respect the rules of the forum.

I've bit the bullet. I am going to cancel Sky (take the hit) and move to EE. I'm guessing if I pay the install fee then EE could check the ONT.

@ArgyleGreen I would think that when you sign up if you are doing it online and going for broadband only, then it will be a self install, you will get the latest SuperHub+ with a delivery charge for it, and it's plug and play on the activation day. Do not honestly think that you have anything wrong with your ONT, but it is OR or one of there service company's for installation but i am not sure how it is requested, you already have a working fttp system from OR on sky, so it is an easy change over.

@JimM11 I am free to join EE. When I got home this evening the orange light was on. It's a shame the engineer cancelled as they would have arrived when the broadband was offline. I decided to call and cancel. They told me I had to pay a termination fee (which I knew) but I told them I didn't feel that I should be charged this. It took 7 people in different departments (each time I was told I had been put through to the wrong department), before I got to speak a lovely Scottish gentleman who apologised for the service and was happy to sort it so I had no termination fees. EE, here I come. 😀👍🏻

@ArgyleGreen Get EE to do this all for you now, when you sign up online, they will take care of informing sky that you are moving from Sky to EE, you should receive e-mails from both, the welcome to EE and the sky sorry your leaving. Think that you possibly have sky Q cant really remember, so when you get time list your details as a refresher and i help with getting going.
At least 14 day's probably for your broadband takeover, and if you do have Q, you will have to deal with that.
The fact that you have EE mobile and it's account, hope that there is no issue's when Linking EE broadband, it's good to see it all in the one place, just be careful on the order. Mine is all working well. Later Jim

Can there be issues with sky Q if I don't have sky broadband?
