my 4gee wifi mini loses signal/wifi connection after 1 minute

Bought a new 4Gee mini wifi 2 days ago.   When I switch it on (either whilst charging or otherwise) the signal lights, wifi turn blue but after one minute they switch off.  

Does this mean it's faulty?  Annoying that I've just signed up on a rolling contract and it doesn't work.

Hi Katie,

I managed to connect it once on my iphone for about 30 secs, then the signal and wifi lights went out.
