iPhone 12 pro max anytime upgrade return time

I am considering doing an anytime upgrade to the 12 pro max and understand about the wait time. 
My question is will I have to return my old phone before the new one arrives? as you normally have to return the old one within 14 days, and I don’t want to be without a phone.

Generally, the return won't be expected till your new phone has arrived.

Wouldn't bother as they don't have any stock there liers,, I was doing the same as u are looking to do and I ordered mine Thursday promised Friday delivery no phone arrived again was promised Monday delivery and ring this morning to find out ee don't even have any stock of the iPhone as apple haven't sent them any so unless u are prepared for a very long wait I suggest u hold out

I went ahead and ordered the max pro in Graphite 128Gb, even though it showed available to order dispatch within 14 days. Got an email from DPD today and being delivered tomorrow. 
So hopefully you should be getting yours soon 🤞

Didn’t get it through dpd like I was ment to I cancelled my order and went into store they had a few graphite 256 and the blue also 256 in stock

At least you got sorted, but I agree you shouldn’t have had to resort to going to a shop.
